The Connecticut
Youth Forum
thanks the
following for their
support:
I truly learned a lot from all of my forum experiences and believe that it
was probably one of the most influential activities I participated in
because it taught me to be more outgoing, take more risks with getting
to know other people, and just all of the opportunities that the youth
forum gave me.
--Erica, Cromwell

Much of who am I today is a direct result of discussions and
experiences at all forum events.  I loved the time I spent at the monthly
meetings, the retreats, and the stage events.  I’d like to thank you all for
an amazing three years that you made possible.
--Jonathan, Granby

I can recall walking into my first Leadership Network meeting and
thinking how open, non-judgmental, a forward thinking these students
were. We were given the opportunity to plan the monthly meetings, the
annual Student Exchange Event, and the mission of the program. I
was finally able to be a leader, fit in amongst other leaders, make a
positive impact on others and I couldn’t have been happier.

The Connecticut Youth Forum is run by youth.
The Leadership Network is made up of high school age kids from around the state who
meet once a month to make decisions regarding the present and future of the Youth
Forum. This corps of leaders does everything from choosing topics for discussion at
monthly meetings to planning an annual Student Exchange Event where hundreds of
students from around Connecticut gather for a day of open and honest discussion.

The Leadership Network is a dedicated group.
Besides coming to Leadership Network Meetings once a month, the leaders also
participate in advisory meetings for The Connecticut Forum, have seats on its Board of
Directors, attend overnight retreats and help organize monthly meetings of the
Connecticut Youth Forum. Leaders create and plan an annual Student Exchange Event
where hundreds of youth from around the state gather for a day of interaction. They also
recently helped the Youth Forum win a grant for $50,000 from The Greater Hartford
Jaycees.

The Leaders are talented.
Besides the usual work of the Leadership Network, these kids design websites (like this
one), record music, serve their communities, write, dance, sing, act and are athletes,
and scholars.

Do you want to be part of that?
All it takes on your part is a willingness to do it. We know you have a talent to
contribute and we want you to.
Leadership Network meetings are always held on the first Friday of each month from
5:00-7:00 pm at the Connecticut Forum's offices.
